A longtime friend of mine asked if I could help with replacing some kitchen cabinets. As we got talking about it and both of our enthusiastic labrador personalities came out, it slowly turned into a full kitchen remodel. There was water damage in the original ceiling, the appliances were going to be replaced, and before we knew it, the whole kitchen was gone and we could start from a blank slate. The theme was “pretty darkness”, black cabinets/appliances/lights, warm wood, and a touch of colour in the tiles.
after gutting the old kitchen, some powerplugs were moved and a new drywall ceiling installed, before moving in the kitchen
the light fixtures were also black, to match with the cabinetry
in my workshop I custom built a few corner cabinets that needed to have a specific function, in this case a sliding cabinet that you can fill from the side.
when the walls were dry the cabinets got placed along with the range and hood.
oak countertops were placed on both sides, a wider one to the left that extents to the window, for maximum working space in an otherwise tiny kitchen area

starting the tile work
finishing the glueing of the tile work.
all grouted and caullked
Deep worksurface and lots of light

Side filling cabinet closed

To conceal the back of the fridge, a tiny cookbook cabinet was made.
