When you mother in law asks you to do something, you do it.
During 6 weeks in the summer of 2024 I gutted a white Peugeot Boxer Van and turned it into her dreamhouse-on-wheels.
Step 1: strip the whole inside as much as possible
step 2: clean and add sound deadening panels + cheap plywood for the floor
Here's me still exited on day 2 of the build
step 3: use child labour if at all possible
subfloor installed and black insulation mats glued on
Step 4: add a swivel seat turn thingy to the driver side
step 5: cut out and install windows in the back
Step 6: start adding furniture, in this case from the middle out. I divided the bus in sleeping and living area and started measuring out cabinets from there.
step 6: overhead cabinets, attached with rivnuts hanging from the ceiling
The kitchen cabinets were all made from scratch to maximize the available space in the van
step 7: heating, a separate heater that pulls from the diesel tank was installed that blows warm air in. It was hidden in the seating area behind the driver seat
here you see the small pedestal where the heater lives, above it a bench seat and removable table
step 8: oak countertops and led strips recessed into the cabinets
the van also got a composting toilet with a door that you close for privacy
the kitchen has a sink that gets water from the on board water tank and the cutting board fits precisely in the sink when driving
the view, if you were a tomato about to become bolognaise sauce
the bed area was made soft and cosy with a big matress and felt on the walls

step 9: go on holiday and bring your house
